- Around the House with Barbara Favreau

-
Her work: Realtor with Favreau & Morgan Developers LLC. She also hosts the local television program Real Estate Today, broadcast by WDSI Fox 61. Her background in real estate: "My grandfather and father were both residential builders, so I've been walking houses since I was 7." Licensed in Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida, she's worked in Atlanta and Boca Rotan and for Arvida, one of the country's largest development companies. "I'm very passionate about what I do. I've left to work in banking and the medical industry, but I always go back to real estate."
Why she enjoys her work: "For the true real estate professional, it's not all about the money. It's about helping someone else. Seeing their face light up when you see them find their home makes you feel that you've done something to bring joy to their life and make their life better. I think that's great. It's priceless."
About Real Estate Today: "It's all about sharing information, educating people about real estate issues and vendors in the area that provide great services. I would love to have more of the local real estate agents on the show. I welcome that opportunity." For more information, email barbarafavreau@comcast.net .
How she describes her North Chattanooga condo: "Casual elegance. I've been told that it looks like the cover of a magazine. I always want people to feel welcome and very comfortable, that if they wanted to take their shoes off and curl up, they could." How she describes herself: "I think I'm a well-rounded person: creative, high-energy, down-to-earth, and very caring. I think I'm here to help other people."
On volunteering as a Big Sister: "It's been very rewarding. For 10 years I've been able to work with and watch a young girl grow and mature from age 7 to 17 and see her build her self-esteem and self-confidence. I wanted to show her all types of opportunities and make her aware of choices, to help her see that just because a person is born into a certain lifestyle doesn't mean that they have to stay there. Determination and education are what enable a person to do what they want to do." Barbara Favreau Style: "Suits when I need to dress up and look the part, but I'm as comfortable in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt as I am in a suit. I like to be casual, at the beach with no make-up, but I also like putting on an evening gown and going out for the evening."
